At the end of the "Can't Believe It" remix, T-Pain says that Auto-Tune is almost up. What? Why would Pain, whose Thr33 Ringz debuts at 4 on next week's Billboard albums sales chart, extinguish his signature sound now?

"Not for me," Pain clarified, "for everybody else." The singer — who told DJ Skee in a separate interview that artists such as Ron Browz have used the Auto-Tune effect poorly — told MTV News that his biters need to pay up. Hey, if Diddy can collaborate with Pain and pay him for using the Auto-Tune, so can you other guys.

"I gave T-Pain one point on my [upcoming] album for using the Auto-Tune," Diddy revealed on Sunday night during "Total Finale Live."

"Sign the papers," advised Pain, who also worked on his friend Kanye West's 808's & Heartbreak. "Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using Auto-Tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It's Diddy. He didn't have to involve me at all. ... I'm writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back."

Pain said that Diddy's new material is in the lane of his singing-heavy hit "Last Night."

"I gave him eight tracks," Pain said. "Eight songs. I don't how many he's gonna use, but I'll tell you how many I gave him. He's doing a little more singing. He's more like the Euro style. He's keeping it hip-hop but bringing some Euro in it. Very electronica.

Last night in Chicago The Roots announced that they will be retiring from touring effective March 2009. The move is being made to accommodate their new Night Gig as the house band for Jimmy Fallon when he replaces Conan O’Brien as the host of Late Night in March of 2009. Conan will be moved to the Tonight Show.
Well shit. Hip Hop fans will be missing out with them not on the road. Seriously… their live show !!!!! >>>>>>>>. I can’t be mad being able to catch them everynight though. We’ll see how it goes.

Cinematic Adventure Review: Role Models

Watch it. Watch it. Watch it. Simply because there is no better comedy movie out there right now. I havent laughed so hard in theathers since "Get Smart." It's foul-mouthed and foul-minded movie with a great cast. Starring Rudd, Seann William Scott, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin), Bobb'e J. Thompson(Disney Kid), Elizabeth Banks, & Jane Lynch(former crackhead/ mentor in the movie)

What really made the movie for me was Wheeler's mentee Ronnie (Bobb'e J. Thompson), an 11-year-old with the vocabulary and hormones of a sailor/inmate. Can't 4get about Christopher who will always be McLovin to me and Jane Lynch...who was just out there. She opened her part with this hilarious quote "My father was a traveling salesman; my mother, out of necessity, was a whore." LOL

I fucking hate Ed Hardy! Much respect due to the tattooist, but God damnit seeing people rock it everywhere I go just drives me nuts. From children, to young people, to even moms and dads, I can’t wait till this style just dies out! And don’t get me wrong, you would never catch me wearing it. But here’s what I’ve realized about Ed Hardy (and you can throw Von Dutch, Christian Audigier and Affliction in there too), as much as I hate them, never before has a clothing company told you so much about the person wearing it. With the rise of streetwear over the past few years, you have all these kids aspiring to be something or associated with something, but with Ed Hardy, there is like ZERO irony in wearing it. People genuinely think it’s cool. They aren’t TRYING to be cool. They actually think they’ve achieved coolness and that Ed Hardy is the tits when it comes to t-shirts (or trucker hats with roses and rhinestones). The poor decision-making that goes into incorporating Ed Hardy into a wardrobe is very telling about someone’s taste and thought process. What does it take for one to spend their hard earned check on a Ed Hardy tee and cheap cologne and rock it in their favorite nightclub? I say leave your colorful rhinestone shirt with a douchebags name on the back at home and invest in other designer labels.

Ed Hardy is becoming another archetype for the ironic personification of conspicuous consumption. it’s inevitable that “designers” will be knocked off…but usually this isn’t viewed as something positive. Christian Audigier as a creative director completely gets off on the mass “popularity” of his empire. he’s the cocky star quarterback of a losing team…and every day’s homecoming. Audigier welcomed massification with open arms. his “signature” line really pulled the trigger, though…but i guess you can’t blame the guy: he’s in love with himself (just listen/watch how he pronounces his own last name). he won his own popularity contest – was crowned homecoming king…but everyone knows his queen is a dirty, dirty whore. smh. HATE! HATE! HATE!!!!

On Election Day digital single "Life in Marvelous Times", from forthcoming Downtown record The Ecstatic, he argues that "we are alive in amazing times," backed by martial horn fanfares and widescreen blip-swoops aiming (I guess) for something marvelous. First the Brooklyn rapper takes us back to "the pre-crack era... Bed-Stuy '82... Bucktown...", with simple, effective storytelling. "Great heavens, good grief"? Not so marvelous. The sung chorus I'll have to percolate for a while. As Mos Def looks to bounce back from the 2007's embattled True Magic, though, he can take comfort in the fact that he's not cursed. AS FAR AS WE KNOW!

Crazy, Now I feel a Lil better about him and his choice to retire cuz I would of never been happy if he dropped one 15 track album. I'm sure his fans wouldnt either.

R.I.P. Def Jam Exec VP Shakir Stewart

Def Jam executive VP Shakir Stewart reportedly committed suicide today (Nov. 1) in Atlanta, according to sources. No other details were available at deadline.


Stewart succeeded Jay-Z at the top of the Def Jam ladder in June and also retained his duties as senior VP of A&R at Island Def Jam. The Oakland, Calif., native signed such artists as Rick Ross, Young Jeezy and newcomer Karina Pasian.

Stewart cut his teeth as a music executive at Hitco Music Publishing, where he was creative director and later senior VP of creative/GM and signed Beyonce Knowles.

Even before he gained a rep for promoting rap concerts during his Morehouse College days, Stewart was "the guy who was the head of passing out fliers at seven clubs a night, seven days a week in 20-degree weather," he told Billboard this summer.


Stewart said at the time it was his goal to help develop "new, young executives ... The hot executive who's 21, 22 years old and has a serious passion for music and the desire to work 27 hours a day. That's where I was at that time in my life. And that's who I'm looking to mentor. I don't see many people like that.
