Dope Sheit: Air Jordan V (5) Retro – Tokyo 23

There is an affinity between Air Jordan and Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park. Before the days of eBay, Sneaker Con, even Jordan Brand re-issuing some of its most popular models, there was a loose band of dealers at the park’s weekend market, selling their own collection. What those few started in the early part of 1990s created the subsequent fandom on Air Jordan Retros and other deadstock sneakers. And so in light of the Tokyo23 Tournament that is to take place next month at that fateful park again, Jordan Brand has created the Air Jordan V Retro in yellow nubuck. Accentuated with hints of grey and icy outsole, in place of the traditional “23” embroidery is a special Tokyo23 crest fashioned in Japanese Mon style. Set to release later this month at all Jordan Brand retail locations in Japan, including the Nike Harajuku flagship. -via freshnessmag
